PEMBROKE – A 10

Alexis Pittman proved to be more than enough to support a staunch defensive effort as the UNC Pembroke soccer team captured a thrilling 1-0 victory over Lander on Wednesday evening at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.
It was the sixth shutout of the season for the Braves (10-3-0, 5-2-0 PBC) who have now won eight of the last 11 matchups in the series with the Bearcats, including the last four meetings in Pembroke. The Bearcats (5-5-2, 3-2-2 PBC), who posted a big 2-1 victory over regionally-ranked North Georgia on Saturday, have won just one of the last four contests.
