BUIES CREEK – Newcomer
Sarah Morden took top honors in the 100-yard Breaststroke and placed runner-up in the 50-yard Freestyle, but the UNC Pembroke swimming team fell at NCAA Division I Campbell, 98-74, on Friday evening inside the Johnson Aquatic Center.
The Braves (1-3) tallied eight runner-up finishes on the night, including second-place showings by both the 200-yard Medley and 200-yard Freestyle Relay squads, but the Camels (6-4) won nine of the 10 events on the evening to fuel the win. It was the first-ever meeting between the two swimming teams.
Collectively, the Black & Gold registered nine season-best times on the evening. Morden established a new personal best time in the 100-yard Breaststroke, and missed matching teammate
Ketlyn Rodriguez Matos's school record in the even by just 0.25 seconds.
The Braves will be back in action again on November 2 when they head to Misenheimer for a dual matchup with Pfeiffer. That cross-division dual is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
