Soccer Uses Big Offensive Night To Rout Converse

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A stellar offensive night, highlighted by a pair of goals from Rilee Seering, helped lead the UNC Pembroke soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Converse on Tuesday evening at Fulp Field.
 
The Braves (13-4-0) closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule at 5-1-0 with their only loss coming at nationally-ranked Lenior-Rhyne. The Valkyries (2-14-0) fell to 0-6-0 all time against the Black & Gold with Tuesday's setback.


 
SCORING SUMMARY
19' Rilee Seering found the back of the net with a pass from Paula Valbuena.
33' Morgan Hill led Rilee Seering down the field where Seering beat Darian Bankston for her second goal of the night.
43' Bayley Dawson scored her first collegiate goal of the night to pad the lead for the Braves.
55' Zion Sellers played a rebound off of a shot and found the back of the net. Paula Valbuena was credited with the assist.
77' Bree Mason used a corner kick from Katy Ryan to head in a goal and cap the game scoring.
 
TOP BRAVES
+ The two-goal night for Rilee Seering marked the first multi-goal game of her career. Seering now has a team-high eight goals in 2019, including six game-winning scores.
+ Freshman Bayley Dawson picked up the first goal of her collegiate career.
+ The multi-assist night for newcomer Paula Valbuena marks her first in a Braves uniform.
+ Gina Ryan logged her 35th career clean sheet and faced just one shot.
 
NOTABLES
+ UNCP improved to 7-3-0 this season when playing away from Pembroke.
+ The Black & Gold outshot Converse, 21-3, including 13 shots on goal.
+ The victory marked the third 5-0 victory for the Braves in two seasons, with two of those coming against Converse.
+ UNCP logged its ninth shutout of the 2019 campaign.
 
 
UP NEXT
The Braves will close out the regular season when they trek to Georgia on Friday to take on Young Harris (6-9-0, 5-5-0 PBC). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the YHC Soccer Field.
