Soccer Closes Regular Season With Win At Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Alexis Pittman and Rilee Seering each netted first half goals to help support a smothering defensive effort by the UNC Pembroke soccer team as the Braves closed out the regular season with a 2-0 win at Young Harris on Friday afternoon.
 
The result marked a school-record eighth road victory for the Braves (14-4-0, 8-3-0 PBC) who moved to 8-3-0 away from Lumbee River EMC Stadium this season. The Mountain Lions (6-10-0, 5-6-0 PBC) fell to 0-9-0 all-time in the series with the Black & Gold.



 
SCORING SUMMARY
13' Paula Valbuena played a ball that found Alexis Pittman's feet for a goal.
32' UNCP took advantage of a defensive miscommunication and capitalized with a Rilee Seering goal.
 
TOP BRAVES
+ Junior Rilee Seering netted her team-leading ninth goal of the season, and has scored at least one goal against eight different opponents.
+ Alexis Pittman tallied the game-winner for the second time in the last three outings for UNCP. She has now scored at least one point (goal or assist) in 11 contests this year.
+ Gina Ryan stopped both shots on goal by the Mountain Lions on the way to logging her 36th career shutout.
 
NOTABLES
+ UNCP finishes the regular season 8-3-0 when playing away from Pembroke. The eight road wins is a new single-season record for the program.
+ The Black & Gold outshot Young Harris, 16-4, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.
+ Friday's victory marked the 299th career victory for head coach Lars Andersson.
+ UNCP logged its third-straight shutout on Friday, and boosted its season total to 10 clean sheets.
 
 
UP NEXT
By virtue of locking up the No. 3 seed in next week's Peach Belt Conference Tournament, the Braves will host a quarterfinal contest on Tuesday at Lumbee River EMC Stadium. Start time and opponent have yet to be determined.
