KEY INNINGS
TOP 1 Garrett Kirkwood climbed aboard via a one-out single, and then moved to third base moments later on a deep flyout to centerfield. Frank Wager's double to the gap in right field with the next at-bat gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
TOP 2 Columbus State led off the second with three-straight singles, including a RBI knock from Matthew McDade. An ill-timed wild pitch brought Grant Berry scurrying home from third base moments, and Kendall Ford pushed the lead out to 4-0 on a groundout to shortstop.
BOT 4 River Ryan reached via a two-strike single to put a pair of runners aboard for the Braves, and Jarratt Mobley followed with a two-run double down the right field line. Bobby Dixon's RBI single with the next at-bat pulled the Black & Gold within a lone score, 4-3, heading to the fifth.
BOT 5 CSU starter Sam Sowerbrower got Trevor Clemons on a groundout to open the frame, but Ethan Baucom knotted the score up moments later when he hammered Sowerbrowers' second offering over the fence in right field.
TOP 7 The Cougars retook the lead in the top of the seventh thanks to a one-out double from Garrett Kirkwood, as well as a two-out RBI single by Frank Wager.
BOT 7 UNCP loaded the bases with its first three at-bats in the home half of the seventh, and then took the lead for good on Ethan Baucom's bases-clearing double to the gap in right field. Baucom eventually scored on a wild pitch by CSU reliever Tyler Cadenhead's wild pitch, but the Braves added two more insurance runs on RBI knocks by River Ryan (double) and Bobby Dixon (single).
