Smith, Baseball Finish Off Twinbill Sweep At Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. – The UNC Pembroke baseball team scored eight times behind a phenomenal outing from sophomore Landen Smith, and the Braves put the finishing touches on a series-opening doubleheader sweep at Anderson on Saturday with an 8-0 victory over the Trojans in the nightcap.
 
The win marked the fourth series victory of the season for the Braves (13-11) who have now captured five of their last six outings over the last eight days. The Trojans (10-14) have dropped seven of their last nine contests.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 2 The Braves loaded the bases with their first three at-bats and took the lead for good on Jarratt Mobley's RBI groundout to the left side. Bobby Dixon's groundout moments later lit up the left field scoreboard with the second run of the game.
TOP 3 Trevor Clemons reached via a one-out single and, after swiping second base, came scampering home thanks to a RBI single from Ethan Baucom. Elijah Helton's single to right field two at-bats later padded UNCP's lead out to 4-0.
TOP 4 Bobby Dixon legged out an infield single to start the inning, and the Braves put a pair of runners aboard after a two-out single from Trevor Clemons to set the table for a three-run dinger off the bat of Ethan Baucom.
TOP 6 Luke Jackson drew a walk to lead off the top of the sixth, and then stole second base to move into scoring position. Ethan Baucom's one-out sac fly to deep centerfield capped the scoring on the day for both teams.
