Late Homer Pushes Baseball Past Georgia Southwestern In Opener

AMERICUS, Ga. – Junior Zach Ghelfi hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to help support a phenomenal relief outing from right-hander Jacob Morrison and give the UNC Pembroke baseball team a 2-1 victory over Georgia Southwestern in Saturday's series opener at Hurricane Field.
 
Morrison (2-1) struck out five and allowed just two base runners in 4-1/3 innings of relief to grab the win for the Braves (21-25, 11-17 PBC) who stopped a 10-game losing streak in games decided by a lone score. The setback gave the Hurricanes (19-29, 12-16) back-to-back losses for the first time since April 3.
