Baseball Wraps Up Season With Loss At Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern erupted for 18 hits and scored 13 times behind a four-armed pitching staff that fueled the Hurricanes to a series-clinching 13-4 victory over the UNC Pembroke baseball team on Sunday afternoon at Hurricane Field.
 
The setback closed the lid on a 21-win season for the Braves (21-27, 11-19 PBC) who will return six field starters and 10 pitchers for the 2020 campaign. The victory clinched a spot in next weekend's Peach Belt Conference Tournament for the Hurricanes (21-29, 14-16) who set a program record for league victories with a win over the Black & Gold on Saturday evening.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 1 Jonathan Martin's one-out RBI single to left field plated Jason Baita with a lead the hosts would not relinquish. The Hurricanes pushed their advantage out to a pair of runs on Bo Halcomb's two-out RBI single later in the frame.
BOT 4 Georgia Southwestern loaded the bases with their first three at-bats in the home half of the fourth and eventually plated a pair of runs to pad its lead out to 8-0.
