Baseball Upends Lock Haven In Series Rubber Match

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke baseball team belted out a season-high 19 hits and tacked up four multi-run innings on the way to a series-clinching 18-4 victory over visiting Lock Haven on Sunday afternoon at Sammy Cox Field.
 
The Braves (5-2) collected 10 of their 19 hits with runners in scoring position to fuel Sunday's rout, including a 7-for-12 (.583) clip with the bases loaded. Lock Haven (1-2) mustered 11 hits on the afternoon, but was just 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on the base paths.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 1 Lock Haven took the first lead of the afternoon when Isaac Porter laced a double down the left field line to bring Jake Mastillo all the way around from first base.
BOT 1 The Braves took stormed ahead for good with three runs in the bottom of the first, tying the score on Bobby Dixon's fielder's choice RBI and then taking the lead on River Ryan's RBI single.
BOT 4 Already holding a 6-2 lead, the Braves sent 14 batters to the plate to fuel a 9-run fourth inning. Connor Grainger highlighted the frame with a bases-clearing triple, while Ethan Baucom capped the scoring barrage with a 2-run single up the middle.
