Bucky Bonynge took a bid for a no-hitter into the sixth as the 14
th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team cruised to a 22-3 victory over Claflin in Friday's series opener at historic Mirmow Field.
The result snapped a two-game skid for the Braves (4-2, 2-2 PBC) who have won the opening game of their last seven series dating back to last season. It was the seventh-straight loss for the Panthers (1-8, 1-8) who fell to 0-9 all-time in the series with the Black & Gold.

Christian Jayne and Spencer Faulkner both reached via bean balls, and the Braves put their first run of the game up on the board moments later on a costly throwing error by the Panthers. An ill-timed wild pitch, along with a RBI single off the bat of Ethan Baucom, made it a 3-0 game. |

The Braves sent 11 runners to the plate in a 5-run, 4-hit frame that padded their lead out to 8-0. Spencer Faulkner got the scoring started with a 2-run double to right field, but Wellington Guzman (fielder's choice), Ethan Baucom (sac fly) and River Ryan all provided RBI knocks as well. |
