Soccer Uses Big First Half In Victory Over Young Harris

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke soccer team used three first-half goals within 20 minutes of each other to fuel a 4-0 victory over Young Harris on Sunday afternoon at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.
 
The victory for the Braves (3-1-0) marks the first win at home this season and the 10th straight win against Young Harris. The setback for the Mountain Lions (2-2-0) marks the second shutout loss this season.





 
SCORING SUMMARY
3' Rilee Seering used a defensive miscue by Young Harris to score her third goal of the season.
15' UNCP used a corner kick from Anna Grossheim that found the head of Alexis Pittman to put the Braves up 2-0.
19' Rilee Seering played a big ball to Alexis Pittman who knocked it past the goalie for her second goal of the day.
56' Rilee Seering capped off the scoring for the Braves with her second goal of the day.
 
TOP BRAVES
+ Rilee Seering led the Braves with two goals and two assists. Seering attempted three shots, all of which were on goal. This is the third game that the senior has scored two goals. 
+ Alexis Pittman recorded two goals as well. Pittman attempted a team-high six shots, three of which were on goal. The two goals for Pittman is the third time of scoring more than one goal in a contest.
+ Freshman Anna Grossheim picked up her first point of the season with an assist. Grossheim attempted one shot.
+ Chiara Coppin recorded her second shutout. Coppin logged two saves.
 
NOTABLES
UNCP outshot Young Harris 19-7, including an 11-3 advantage in the second half. 
The Black & Gold also held an 11-2 advantage with shots on goal over the Mountain Lions.
The Braves improve to 10-0 all-time against the Mountain Lions.
 
 
UP NEXT
The Braves will travel to Milledgeville, Ga., on March 7 to take on Georgia College (1-0-0). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
