MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Joshua Chepkesir claimed a first-place finish in the 5000-meter Run as the UNC Pembroke track & field teams made their outdoor season debut at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Chepkesir ran a personal-best time of 14:35.11 for the only event title of the day.
Todzah Small finished eighth in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.66-meters, while
Brandon Boyles logged a 13
th-place finish in the Hammer Throw with a personal-best throw of 40.24-meters.
On the women's side,
Savannah Watkins finished sixth in the preliminary round of the 100-meter Hurdles and will compete in the finals tomorrow.
Micaiah Darity recorded a sixth-place finish in the Long Jump with a personal-best leap of 4.91-meters, while
Caroline Flax cleared a height of 2.90-meters in Pole Vault for a seventh-place finish.
The squads combined for 17 personal-best marks and will close out weekend competition tomorrow for the final day at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The first event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
