WINSTON-SALEM – Gary Parker brought home a runner-up finish in the men's weight throw, while Dakota Jernigan took fourth in the women's high jump to highlight action at the indoor season-opening meet Sunday at the JDL Early Bird Invitational.

Parker posted a mark of 17.31 meters to take second place in the weight throw, while Xavier Ratliff crossed in 8.47 to finish third in the 60m hurdles. Antony Kigen turned in a personal-best 4:28.04 in the mile to bring home fifth place and to round out the top-five finishers on the men's side.

On the women's side, Jernigan posted a mark of 1.57 meters in the high jump to take fourth, while Comfort Agwu turned in a personal-best mark of 14.33 meters to take fifth in the weight throw and round out the women's top-five finishers.

The Braves posted nine new personal-best marks on the day.
 
Both squads will be back in action Saturday, January 17 as they head back to Winston-Salem for the Mondo College Invitational.
