GREENVILLE, S.C. – A record-breaking performance on Saturday at the Akiah McMillian Invitational proved to be even more fruitful for Jackline Kosgei on Monday when she was named as the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week, league officials announced. 
 
The announcement marks the second time in three weeks this season that Kosgei has been tabbed with the league's weekly honor.
 
A native of Eldoret, Kenya, Kosgei shattered a 9-year-old school record on the way to an individual title on Saturday. The sophomore covered the 6K course at the Par Tee Golf Center in 21:42.4 to best the previous school record set by Abby Culp during the 2013 season.
 
Kosgei's performance on Saturday marked her best finish since the 2021 Conference Carolinas Championships when she walked away with medalist honors as well. 
 
The Braves will compete one more time prior to the Conference Carolinas Championships on October 22 when they travel to Huntsville, Ala., for the UAH Invitational. The race is set to begin at 8:45 a.m. at John Hunt Park.
