AUGUSTA, Ga. – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team fought off two match points in the fifth set after battling back from a two-set deficit, but fell short to Peach Belt Conference leading Augusta 3-2 (22-25, 14-25, 25-19, 25-19, 13-15) on Tuesday evening in a non-conference match inside the Christenberry Fieldhouse. 
 
The setback for the Braves (15-12) marked the second straight loss to the Jaguars 
(17-5), but the first time since the meeting on Nov. 4, 2011, that the match has gone to five sets. 
Morgan Gibbs logged an impressive 53 assists to establish a new career-best, while 
Brianna Warren surpassed the 1,000 career kill mark with a 14 kill performance.

			The Jaguars used a 7-1 scoring surge to take a large 19-7 lead in the second set. UNCP struggled to find the offensive rhythm hitting just .030 from the net, while the hosts made just three attack errors to take a two-set lead. |

			Brianna Warren's kill started a 6-1 scoring advantage for the Black & Gold, who took an 18-12 lead with blocks from Warren and Morgan Gibbs. Augusta stayed in the set with a kill from Jazmyn Wheeler to trim the deficit back to 23-19, but UNCP secured the final two points of the set.  |

			A pair of Hope Turbyfill service aces and a kill from Precious Daley and Brianna Warren helped the Braves to a quick start taking a 7-4 lead. UNCP extended their lead out to 19-13 with three consecutive points ended with an attack error from Augusta.  The Jaguars scored four straight points to cut their deficit to 21-18, but UNCP stayed in the driver's seat scoring four of the final five points to send the match to a deciding fifth set.  |
