Volleyball Hangs On For Victory At Converse

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team hit .226 from the net during the match and used seven service aces to fuel a 3-1 (25-20, 25-11, 24-26, 25-17) victory against Converse on Sunday afternoon inside the Tom & Tracy Hannah Gymnasium. 
 
The victory for the Braves (10-10, 7-1 CC) marked the sixth straight victory of the season and was the third straight win on the road this season. The Black & Gold improve to 4-3 in matches that go more than three sets.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-20 Vanja Przulj sparked the offense with a kill that ignited a 6-0 run to push the UNC Pembroke lead out to 15-10 in the first set. Converse trimmed their deficit to 18-17 with a kill from Evelyn Fritz, but UNCP cushioned their lead with three straight points.
SET 2 I 25-11 The Black & Gold got a quick start taking an early 13-4 lead off of an Elise Martin service ace. UNCP hit .394 at the net and closed out the set on a 7-1 run to take a two-set lead. 
SET 3 I 24-26 The Valkyries jumped out to an early 7-2 lead with blocks from Evelyn Fitz and Jasmine Finkley. UNCP struggled to get into an offensive rhythm hitting just .098 from the net, while the hosts hit .222 during the set and picked up four blocks to steal the set. 
SET 4 I 25-17 Shannon Skryd's kill put the Braves on top 16-11 in the set. UNCP limited Converse to just six kills, and closed out the match with a 7-4 run for the match.
