Five Wrestlers Advance To Semifinals At Citrus Invitational

LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. – Logan Seliga (125 pounds), Jake Piccirilli (149), Shylik Scriven (184), Bryce Walker (197) and Nigel Williams (197) all registered perfect days on the mat to advance through to Friday's semifinal round and highlight action for the 18th-ranked UNC Pembroke wrestling team on Thursday at the Citrus Invitational.
 
Cody Williams (141), Loye Burkhead (157) and Garrett Steele (197) will also move into Friday's action in southeast Florida as the trio battles for third-place laurels in their respective tournaments. Nine other Braves will compete for ninth place in their respective weight classes on Friday as well.
 
Thirteen Braves registered at least one victory on the mat in Thursday's opening-round action at Cardinal Gibbons High School, including 10 that turned in multiple wins. Burkhead posted a team-best four victories on Thursday, including three in the consolation tournament at 157 pounds.
 
Friday's final round at the John Carroll-hosted event is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
