GREENVILLE, S.C. – A record performance at the VMI Winter Relays over the weekend has earned Lillian Marino Conference Carolinas Co-Field Athlete of the Week honors, officials announced Tuesday morning.
 
Marino shattered the school record in the Weight Throw on Friday with a toss of 17.55 meters. That mark was also good enough for an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and helped her move into first place among this season's Conference Carolinas performers in that discipline. The redshirt junior also ranks 22^nd nationally in Division II for the event.
 
A native of Fort Wright, Ky., Marino finished the weekend with a 15^th-place finish in the Shot Put, logging a personal-best throw of 10.98 meters. She sits among the league's top-10 performers in that event as well.
