Big Bats Help Softball Sweep Catawba

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team combined for 20 hits, seven of which were extra base hits, while also adding two home runs, to help fuel a non-conference twinbill sweep over visiting Catawba on Thursday afternoon at the UNCP softball Field. The Braves won 11-3 in five innings of the opening contest, and then secured the sweep with a 12-4 victory in five innings of the nightcap.

The victory for the Braves (6-2) marks the first time sweeping Catawba in the 31 matchups between the two teams. It is also the first win for the Black & Gold at home against Catawba since an 8-0 victory during the 2019 season. The setback for the Indians (2-2) snaps a two-game winning streak for the first two losses of the season
