Softball Back On Track, Sweeps Adelphi

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team allowed just six hits across two games and fanned eight batters to get back on track and sweep Adelphi on Friday evening at the UNCP Softball Field. The Braves captured the opening game 5-0 and secured the sweep with a 7-1 victory in the nightcap.

The Braves improve to 7-1 this season when playing on their home field, which marks the best start at home since the 2010 season. The Panthers (0-2) fall to 0-3 all-time when playing the Black & Gold.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 1	Alexis Sacripante got the inning started for Adelphi with a leadoff single to center field. An ill-timed fielding error on a ball hit from Faith Camilleri scored Sacripante.
BOT 2	Tatum Brummitt doubled to the outfield gap, followed by a two-run blast over the left field fence from Lauren Hilbourn for a 5-0 UNCP lead.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 4	Mary Sells beat out an infield single, and scored on a Tatum Brummitt double deep to left center field.
BOT 4	Emily Biddle reached on a fielder's choice, but Madison Dyson cleared the bases with a two-run homer over the left field fence. MaKenna Sibbett smoked a double to left field and scored with a Mary Sells double to left field. Tatum Brummitt singled to left field to plate Sells and push UNCP out in front 5-1.
