GREENVILLE, S.C. – After logging her fourth double-double and helping the UNC Pembroke women's basketball team to a pair of wins,
Zaria Clark has been named as the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.
The announcement marks the fourth conference award for Clark this season, but her first defensive player of the week honor.
A native of Stanley, Clark played key minutes in both contests last week, averaging 25.0 minutes per game. The freshman nearly averaged a double-double with 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She grabbed a team-high 19 rebounds across the two games, 13 of which were on the defensive glass, and also led the team in steals with five.
Clark started the week with an 11-point outing at Barton, and finished the week with a career-high night against North Greenville with 18 points and 13 rebounds. She has now scored in double-figures 13 different times, pulled down seven or more rebounds 12 different times and registered four double-doubles.
