GREENVILLE, S.C. – Newcomer Zaria Clark has been named as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for the third consecutive month after playing a key role for the UNC Pembroke women's basketball team in January, officials announced Friday afternoon.
 
Clark appeared in all eight contests throughout the month of January and averaged 9.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. A native of Stanley, she went 23-for-63 (36.5 percent) from the field, while averaging 26.1 minutes per game. Over the course of the month, she also led the team with 61 rebounds, including 48 defensive boards.
 
Clark started the month strong with her first career double-double with a 12-point, 10-rebound outing against Francis Marion. The freshman guard followed up that performance with another double-double when she logged a career-high 16 points and 11 rebounds against Barton. 
 
A threat on the free throw line as well, she canned 26-of-28 (92.9 percent) of her attempts during January. She currently leads Conference Carolinas and now sits sixth nationally in free throw percentage with a 91.7 percent success rate on in 2021-22.
