BELMONT – The UNC Pembroke softball used a big three-run homer in top of the seventh inning from
Tatum Brummitt to capture a 4-1 victory over Belmont Abbey in the opening contest on Friday afternoon at Crusader Field. The Braves left 15 runners on base in game two and suffered a 4-3 loss with a walkoff single by the Crusaders
The Braves (23-15, 12-10 CC) improve to 13-2 all-time against Belmont Abbey, but Friday's meeting marked the first conference competition between the teams. The victory for the Crusaders (29-12, 14-8 CC) in game two marked the first win on their home field against the Braves in the six meetings.
