Lucky 7! Soccer Storms Back To Upend Lees-McRae

PEMBROKE – Brooke Allen's one-timer just more than five minutes into the second half helped visiting Lees-McRae stake claim to a 1-0 lead, but the UNC Pembroke soccer team netted a pair of unanswered goals, and got a key save from goalkeeper Chiara Coppin with 12 seconds left, to turn back the Bobcats, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.

It was the seventh-straight win for the Braves (8-1-0, 4-0-0 CC) who have now captured 20 of their last 22 regular-season contests dating back to mid-September 2021. Lees-McRae (3-4-2, 2-2-1) fell to 0-4-0 all-time in the series with the Black & Gold, including a pair of setbacks in Pembroke.

51' Taylor Barrineau got to a bouncing ball just before a pair of UNCP defenders and hit a shifty pass to a wide-open Brooke Allen who one-timed a shot past a diving Chiara Coppin.
59' The Braves found their Equalizer just less than eight minutes later when Ashleigh Harris dribbled through the Lees-McRae backline and found Noami Fountain on the back post who redirected the pass into the back of the net.
85' Anna Grossheim took control of a throw-in from Abigail Lowry, raced past a pair of defenders in the penalty area, and rifled a shot past LMC netminder Mallory Roughton who had left her line in an attempt to make a stop.
