SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The 44^th-ranked UNC Pembroke swimming team rose to the top in 10 of the 11 events on the afternoon, including multiple individual event titles from both Mariel Mencia Martinez and Britta Schwengle, to steamroll Conference Carolinas rival Converse, 154-49, in a Saturday morning dual meet inside CU's Montgomery Student Center.
 
It was the ninth dual meet victory of the season for the Braves (9-3) who improved to 3-1 away from Pembroke this season with the result as well. It was the third-straight loss for the Valkyries (4-4) who have now dropped four-straight duals in the series with the Black & Gold.
 
Mencia Martinez climbed to the top of the podium in both the 50- and 100-yard Freestyle disciplines, while Schwengle tacked up Saturday wins in both the 200- and 500-yard Freestyle. Nathalia Silva gave the visitors their first individual event title of the morning with a nearly 37-second win in the 1000-yard Freestyle, while Chiara Ambrosi (400-yard Individual Medley), Mary Jensen (100-yard Backstroke) and Ketlyn Rodriguez Matos (100-yard Breaststroke) all walked away with event wins as well.
 
The Braves opened the day with a more-than 10-second win in the 400-yard Medley Relay, and closed out the dual with a nearly 23-second win in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay.
 
UNCP will close out the regular season portion of its 2022-23 schedule on February 4 when it treks to Kingsport, Tenn., for a dual meet with league foe King (1-5). Swimming action inside the Kingsport Aquatic Center is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
