NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry registered 22 hits and scored in eight of the 10 innings play on the way to a twinbill sweep over the UNC Pembroke softball team on Tuesday afternoon at the Smith Road Complex. The Wolves took control early in the opening game and won 11-3 in six innings, and polished off the sweep with a 8-3 victory in game two.
 
The Braves have now lost the last three series against Newberry, two of those series being on the road. The Wolves improve to 4-0 when playing at home.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 2	Newberry loaded the bases after back-to-back walks and an ill-timed error. Molly Mattas lit up the scoreboard with a grand slam over the outfield fence to put the Wolves ahead 5-0.
TOP 4	Samantha Allred reached on an error before Lauren Hilbourn sent one out of the park to put the Braves on the board.
BOT 6	The Wolves put runners on first and second after singles from Melanie Carr and Molly Mattas. Sierra Brogdon and Vanessa Wilson singled to the outfield grass to plate two runs, followed by a pair of singles from Tori Rose and Lindsey Mitchell to cap off the five-run inning.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 3	Mackenzie Collins drew a four-pitch walk and advanced to second after Kadence Sheppard smacked a single down the left field line. Marijo Wilkes doubled to left field to score Collins and Sheppard for give the Braves their first two runs.
BOT 3	Lindsey Mitchell reached on a throwing error and advanced to second after the error. Mitchell ended up at third after an illegal pitch, and would score on a Reagan Smith double. Leah Evans singled through the right side for an RBI to put Newberry out in front 7-2.

The Braves will hit to the road to Dahlonega, Ga., on Saturday when they face former Peach Belt Conference foe North Georgia (6-1). First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for Noon at the Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.
