Mount Olive Cools Off Softball

MOUNT OLIVE – Mount Olive used timely hitting and recorded 20 hits on the way to a twinbill sweep over the UNC Pembroke softball team on Saturday afternoon at Cassell Field.

Both teams tacked on runs in the opening frame, and UNCP had bases loaded in the top of the seventh but was unable to capitalized as the Trojans took the first game 4-1. Mount Olive scored multiple runs in three of the five innings to secure an 8-0 victory over the Braves in five innings.

The setback snapped a six-game conference winning streak for the Braves (16-25, 9-7 CC) who fall to 1-15 when playing away from Pembroke. The Trojans (23-15, 12-6 CC) have now won three out of the last four meetings with the Black & Gold and are 19-9 when playing at home.
