Volleyball Back On Track, Rattles Southern Wesleyan

CENTRAL, S.C. – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team tallied 40 kills and registered seven service aces to help guide them to a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-20) victory against Southern Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon inside Tysinger Gymnasium.
 
The victory for the Braves (7-7, 2-2 CC) snapped a two-game losing skid and improve to 5-1 when playing SWU. The Warriors (1-9, 0-4 CC) have now dropped their last eight contests and are 0-2 when playing on their home court.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-18 UNC Pembroke used a kill from Vanja Przulj to take a 9-5 lead early in the opening set. Southern Wesleyan knotted the score at 12 apiece, but the Braves used a 5-0 scoring run to push their lead out to 17-12. The Warriors cut their deficit back to 21-18 with a UNCP attack error, but the Black & Gold closed out the set winning the final four points. 
SET 2 I 26-24 The Braves hit a match-high .297 from the net and took an 11-3 advantage after scoring seven consecutive points. SWU put together a 7-0 run of their own to trail 19-18, but UNCP was able to hold onto the lead and take the set. 
SET 3 I 25-20 A service ace from Hope Turbyfill gave the Braves a 15-10 lead. A kill from Gracie Wilson cut the Southern Wesleyan deficit back to 17-16, but UNC Pembroke won the next four points to stay in control of the final set.
