PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that soccer's Mercy Bell and men's cross country's Payden Lewis have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on September 15, 2024. 

A product of Jacksonville, Bell registered her fourth career hat trick on Saturday against North Greenville. The junior finished the contest with a career-high 11 shots and tied her career-high with six shots on goal. Bell played 71 minutes and also tallied on assist. 

Lewis placed 11th at the Chanticleer Challenge on Friday pacing the Braves to a 3rd place team finish. The Wake Forest native covered the 8K course in a time of 27.33.4 as the top finisher for UNCP.
