Volleyball Downs Barton In Three Sets

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team hit .296 from the net and logged seven service aces to sweep Barton 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-19) on Friday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 

The Braves (9-7, 6-2 CC) improve to 6-2 when playing on their home court this season and have won the last 10 meetings against Barton. The Bulldogs (5-12, 2-8 CC) have now lost their last four outings and fall to 1-6 when playing on the road.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-18 UNC Pembroke established an early 2-0 lead with kills by Addie Decker and Savannah Whaley, but Barton responded, evening the score at 4-4 following multiple blocks by Madeline Hope. However, a service ace by Anaya Carter sparked a 4-0 run for the Braves, extending their lead to 9-5. Abby Peduzzi was instrumental in maintaining their momentum, delivering crucial kills throughout the set. Despite the Bulldogs' efforts, including a series of kills by Makayla Jenkins and Lexi Wasil, UNCP secured the set 25-18, with Deorri Gaines and Whaley combining for a decisive block before Emily Collings clinched the final point with a service ace.
SET 2 I 25-15 Addie Decker initiated the scoring with a kill, contributing to an early four-point run for the Braves. Savannah Whaley delivered three consecutive kills, extending the UNCP lead to 12-6. Abby Peduzzi and Addie Decker continued to pressure the Bulldogs, while Alexandria Mills sealed the set with a kill.
SET 3 I 25-19 The Black & Gold took a quick 4-0 lead, highlighted by a kill from Savannah Whaley and an ace by Emily Collings. Abby Peduzzi was instrumental in maintaining the team's momentum, delivering multiple kills and service aces, including back-to-back aces that extended the lead to 15-8. Despite a mid-set rally by the Bulldogs, with Lexi Wasil contributing consecutive kills, the UNC Pembroke maintained control. The set concluded with an kill from Abby Peduzzi.
