Football Back On Track, Blows By Chowan

PEMBROKE - The UNC Pembroke football team scored in every quarter and logged 487 total yards of offense on the way to a dominating 42-10 victory over Chowan on Saturday evening at Garrison Stadium. 

The Braves (7-2, 4-1 CC) improve to 3-2 when playing on the road this year. The setback for the Hawks (2-6, 1-3 CC) have now lost their last four contests and fall to 1-4 when playing at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER
Chowan's opening drive was stifled by the UNC Pembroke defense, highlighted by Isi Etute's tackle for loss. Chowan was forced to punt, and on the ensuing possession as UNC Pembroke capitalized with a 52-yard pass from Tre Robinson to JaQuan Albright, setting up a 9-yard touchdown run by Joel Felder at 12:04. Taylor Harris added the extra point to give the Braves a 7–0 lead. Later in the first quarter, Tre Robinson connected with Que Kennedy on a 5-yard touchdown pass with 3:22 remaining, extending the lead to 14–0 after another successful PAT from Harris. Chowan struggled to find rhythm offensively, despite several penalties against UNC Pembroke that advanced the ball into the red zone by the end of the quarter.
2ND QUARTER
Chowan's NyJal Johnson connected with Jakobe Lane for a 19-yard touchdown pass at the 13:13 mark, followed by a successful extra point from Jack Beylo, narrowing the score to 14–7. The Braves responded with an impressive 10-play, 75-yard drive culminating in a 1-yard touchdown run by Tre Robinson with 4:03 remaining. Taylor Harris converted the extra point, extending UNC Pembroke's lead to 21–7. The quarter ended with a robust defensive stand and strategic ball movement by both teams, but no further scoring.
3RD QUARTER
The third quarter saw significant plays from both teams, but the Braves capitalized on their opportunities. Chowan's Jack Beylo initiated the quarter with a 61-yard kickoff, returned 30 yards by Jordan Marcucci of UNC Pembroke. On the ensuing drive, Tre Robinson's 48-yard touchdown pass to Jordaan Bailey was nullified due to a holding penalty on UNCP. Marley Minerds then punted 53 yards, pinning Chowan at their own 5-yard line. The Hawks responded with a 58-yard rush by Dominic Haney, but their drive stalled, leading to a successful 34-yard field goal by Beylo at 9:36, reducing the deficit to 21-10. UNC Pembroke's subsequent possession was marked by Joel Felder's rushing, gaining 23 yards to advance into Chowan territory. Tre Robinson connected with Jaquan Albright for a 4-yard touchdown pass at 4:38, extending the lead to 28-10 following a Taylor Harris extra point. The quarter concluded with a defensive stand by the Braves, highlighted by Evan VanMeter's sack on Johnson, forcing a punt from Chowan.
4TH QUARTER
The Braves extended their lead early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown pass from Tre Robinson to Que Kennedy, making the score 34-10 as Taylor Harris successfully converted the extra point. Chowan's ensuing drive stalled after a false start penalty, and they were unable to convert on fourth down, turning the ball over. UNC Pembroke capitalized on the opportunity, with Devyn Grant rushing 48 yards for another touchdown, followed by another successful extra point from Taylor Harris. The game concluded with a 42-10 victory for UNC Pembroke, as Chowan's final drive ended on downs after a series of short gains and penalties.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
+ Tre Robinson completed 14 of his 21 attempts and threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's game. The sophomore ran the ball 10 times for 59 yards and one touchdown. 
+ Que Kennedy caught five passes for 37 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also running the ball three times for 27 yards.

+ Joel Felder tallied 57 rushing yards, highlighted by a 23 yard run and one touchdown. 
+ Myles Hudson finished with a team-best 11 tackles, including six solo tackles. The freshman had 1.5 tackles or a loss of four yards. 
+ Taylor Harris was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra point attempts and tallied 443 yards on seven kick offs. 
NOTABLES
 + UNC Pembroke finished Saturday's contest with 487 total yards of offense and held Chowan to 250 offensive yards. 
+ The Black & Gold converted on 5-of-6 of their chances in the red zone. 
+ The UNCP defense tallied two sacks for loss yards.
