Soccer Grabs Huge Road Win Over #17 Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. – UNC Pembroke used two second-half goals and a strong defensive performance to take a 2-0 road win over previously unbeaten and 17th-ranked Francis Marion in Conference Carolinas action Tuesday night at Hartzler Field.

Freya Lodge Whitham and Leila Utate each scored a goal for the Braves, with Jasmin Diop recording two assists and Reagan Carr chipping in with one, as well.

The Black & Gold allowed just two shots on goal, with Addison Ellsworth stopping both to earn her eighth clean sheet of the season.

The Braves (8-6-1, 8-3-1 CC) improved to 6-9-5 in the all-time series with the Patriots (14-1-0, 11-1-0 CC), while moving to 6-2-0 in road contests this season.

 
SCORING SUMMARY
79' Jasmin Diop's service into the box bounced once and found the head of Freya Lodge Whitham, who redirected it into the back of the net to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
85' Reagan Carr's long pass ahead found the head of Jasmin Diop, whose flick on found a streaking Leila Utate, who then fired a shot from the edge of the penalty area over the head of the FMU goalkeeper and into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

+ Freya Lodge Whitham logged a match-high two shots on goal, while picking up her second game winner of the season.
+ Jasmin Diop recorded her second multi-assist match of the season.
