Volleyball Steamrolls Erskine

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team was firing on all cylinders on Saturday with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-22, 25-6) sweep over Erskine at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 

The Braves (13-13, 10-6 CC) hit .360 from the net and logged 11 service aces to snap a three game skid. The Flying Fleet (7-18, 5-12 CC) have now lost their last three contests and fall to 3-8 when playing on the road this season.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-6 The first set began with UNC Pembroke taking an early lead, opening with a kill by Abby Peduzzi. The Braves extended their advantage with a block by Addie Decker and McKenna Hayes, followed by multiple attack errors from Erskine, leading to a 10-3 lead. McKenna Hayes and Abby Peduzzi were key offensive contributors, with multiple kills credited to both players. Despite a few errors, UNC Pembroke maintained control, capped off by a series of kills from Abby Peduzzi, who scored five of the final seven points. The set concluded with UNC Pembroke securing a decisive 25-6 victory following an attack error by Erskine.
SET 2 I 25-22 In the second set, Erskine took an early 2-0 lead with Ali Angell's kill and an attack error by the Braves. UNC Pembroke responded with a kill by McKenna Hayes, leveling the score at 2-2. The teams exchanged points, but the hosts gained momentum through a series of service aces, including two consecutive from Anaya Carter, to extend their lead to 12-7. The visitors narrowed the gap to 16-15 with a run highlighted by Meghan DeWalt's service aces. However, the Black & Gold regained control, leading 21-18 after a kill from Savannah Whaley. Despite a late push by Erskine, with Yohe contributing key kills, UNC Pembroke secured the set 25-22 following a service error by Erskine.
SET 3 I 25-6 UNC Pembroke dominated the third set, beginning with Addie Decker's kill for the first point. Abby Peduzzi contributed two consecutive service aces, establishing an early 4-1 lead. Savannah Whaley then delivered a strong performance with multiple kills and a service ace, helping the Braves extend their advantage to 20-5. The set concluded with consecutive attack errors by Erskine, sealing a decisive 25-6 victory for UNC Pembroke.
