Soccer Shuts Out Converse In Conference Carolinas Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After playing to a scoreless first-half for the second match in a row, UNC Pembroke responded with two second-half goals to take a 2-0 win over Converse in its Conference Carolinas opener Saturday afternoon at Hayden Abney Fulp Field.

Freya Lodge Whitham recorded the game-winner, while also tallying the assist on Eugenie Amidou's goal. Jasmin Diop added an assist to record her first collegiate point.

The Braves (1-2-0, 1-0-0 CC) stayed perfect in the all-time series with the Valkyries (1-2-1, 0-1-0 CC), moving to 10-0-0.
 
SCORING SUMMARY
55' Jasmin Diop's bent a corner kick that found Freya Lodge Whitham, who redirected it past the Converse goal-keeper to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
62' Another corner kick found the head of Lodge Whitham, who sent it forward to the foot of Eugenie Amidou and into the back of the net to stretch the lead to 2-0.
