Men's Basketball Flies By Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. – UNC Pembroke made a season-best 14 three-pointers and never trailed on the way to a 78-53 victory at Erskine on Saturday afternoon inside Belk Arena. 

The Braves (10-6, 7-1 CC) have won their last four games and improve to 5-0 when playing Erskine in Due West. The Flying Fleet (0-12, 0-7 CC) have now lost the last nine meetings with UNCP.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST HALF
UNC Pembroke started the first half effectively, quickly establishing a 12-0 lead with key contributions from Moe Bangura, who netted a three-pointer and two free throws. Jonathan Kurtas extended the advantage with a dunk at the 18:16 mark. Erskine responded with a layup by Dorien Johnson at 14:40, narrowing the gap to 12-2. However, the Braves maintained control, with Quay Watson scoring a three-pointer and later a layup, pushing the lead to 38-24 by the end of the half. 
2ND HALF
In the second half, UNC Pembroke dominated with a strong offensive performance, highlighted by eight 3-pointers. Moe Bangura contributed significantly with a tip-in at 18:15 and four free throws. Demar Anderson added to the lead with three successful 3-pointers, including one at the 11:52 mark. The Flying Fleet's efforts, led by Johnson's scoring, were insufficient to close the gap, resulting in a 78-53 victory for the Braves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
+ Demar Anderson matched a career-high with 17 points highlighted by a 5-for-11 clip from the perimeter. The redshirt senior pulled down six defensive rebounds and had three assists in 23 minutes of action.
+ Quay Watson went 5-for-9 from the 3-point line to also add 17 points. The sophomore finished the game with five rebounds, one assist and one steal. 
+ Moe Bangura went 10-for-12 from the free throw line to add 15 points in 25 minutes of work. 
NOTABLES
+ UNC Pembroke shot 52.2 percent from the field while Erskine shot 40.0 percent from the floor.
+ The Braves made a season-high 14 three-pointers and shot 50-percent from the perimeter. 
+ Erskine was just 8-for-22 from the free throw line. UNCP made good on 16-of-20 attempts.
+ The Black & Gold picked up 49 points from its bench and never trailed during Saturday's game.
