Soccer Drops Season Opener At Belmont Abbey

BELMONT – UNC Pembroke struck first to take a 1-0 lead in the second half, but Belmont Abbey answered with two goals in less than two minutes to take a 2-1 win in both teams' season opener Thursday evening at Alumni Field.

Freshman Willow Price netted her first collegiate goal in her UNCP debut, but Belmont Abbey's Haley Long and Jadyn Radestock scored back-to-back goals for the Crusaders.

The Braves (0-1-0) fell to 7-5-0 in the all-time series with the Crusaders (1-0-0). Thursday's match was designated as a non-conference contest. 
 
SCORING SUMMARY
57' UNCP's Willow Price wiggled free for a shot from 25 yards out and ripped a blast past the diving Belmont Abbey goalkeeper to stake the Braves to a 1-0 lead.
84' Belmont Abbey's Haley Long shot from nearly the same spot as Price's on the opposite end of the pitch found the back of the net to give the Crusaders the equalizer.
86' Jadyn Radestock one-touch shot lofted into the back of the net to make it 2-1 Belmont Abbey.
