Volleyball Cools Off Shorter

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team hit a match-best .371 in the fourth set to help fuel a 3-1 victory over Shorter in Conference Carolinas action on Friday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 

The Braves improve to 5-0 all-time against Shorter. Addie Decker finished with a match-best 17 kills, while Anaya Carter matched a career-best with 21 digs.

SET 1 I 25-14 UNC Pembroke got a quick start and took an early 11-3 after a service ace from Anaya Carter. Shorter strung together six consecutive points to cut the score back to 20-13, but UNCP closed out the set winning five out of the final six points.   
    - UMO out-hit SU .258 to -.067 in the set.  
    - Addie Decker finished the set with six kills.
SET 2 I 20-25 Alexandria Mills knotted the score at 17 with a kill, but the Hawks pushed their lead out to 21-17 winning the next four points and stay in control of the set. 
    - SU out-hit UNCP .250 to .125 in the set.
    - Addie Decker added five more kills during the frame.
    - Abby Peduzzi and Alexandria Mills teamed up for a pair of blocks. 
SET 3 I 25-15 UNCP took a convincing 17-9 lead after a kill from Addie Decker and would not relinquish the lead. 
    - UNCP out-hit SU .294 to .073 in the set. 
    - Caterina Coronelli tallied a trio of kills. 
SET 4 I 25-16 A kill from Alex Mills put UNCP ahead 15-10. Shorter cut its deficit back to 18-14, but the Braves won seven of the final nine points.  
    - UNCP out-hit SU .371 to .235 in the set.
    - Addie Decker added four more kills. 
    - Savannah Whaley had a pair of service aces.
