Volleyball Rolls By Young Harris

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team registered five service aces and hit a match-best .324 in the third set to secure a 3-0 sweep over Young Harris on Saturday afternoon at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 

The Braves improve to 5-1 all-time against Young Harris and are a perfect 3-0 when playing YHC in Pembroke. Abby Peduzzi and Emily Collings both registered double-doubles during Saturday's victory.

SET 1 I 25-20 A kill from Abby Peduzzi cushioned the UNC Pembroke lead out to 14-9. Young Harris cut its deficit back to 18-16 winning four-straight points, but the Braves won seven of the final 11 points to take the opening set. 
    - UNCP out-hit YHC .174 to .089 in the set.  
    - Abby Peduzzi finished the set with four kills, with Alexandria Mills adding three kills.
SET 2 I 25-22 Young Harris capitalized on an UNC Pembroke attack error to take an 8-7 lead, but UNCP won the next four points to take an 11-8 advantage. The Mountain Lions knotted the score at 20 apiece, but the Braves closed out the set winning five of the final seven points. 
    - YHC out-hit UNCP .111 to .109 in the set.
    - Abby Peduzzi finished the set with five kills. 
    - Anaya Carter added a pair of service aces. 
SET 3 I 25-19 The Braves used a kill from Savannah Jackson to establish a 16-15 advantage. UNCP would go on to win seven of the next nine points to stay in control of the set. 
    - UNCP out-hit YHC .324 to .234 in the set. 
    - Savannah Jackson tallied five kills in the set.
