Volleyball Stays Hot, Defeats Georgia College, Elizabeth City State

PEMBROKE – UNC Pembroke hit .225 and logged 10 service aces to defeat Georgia College 3-1, and then closed out the day hitting a season-best .388 to sweep Elizabeth City State 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 

Abby Peduzzi and Addie Decker both registered double-digit kills against Georgia College, while Emily Collings posted a double-double against the Bobcats. Chiara Binda logged four service aces against Elizabeth City State, while Peduzzi posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. 

UNCP (8-4) is now 6-11 all-time against Georgia College and improves to 15-0 all-time against Elizabeth City State. 

It is the best start to the season for the Braves through the first 12 games of the season since the 2010 season.

SET 1 I 25-15 UNC Pembroke took a 17-10 lead in the first set following a kill from Danika Kunkle. Georgia College tried to cut into the deficit, 18-13, but the Braves maintained control and won seven of the final nine points. 
    - UNCP out-hit GC .333 to .184 in the set.
    - Danika Kunkle and Abby Peduzzi both finished the set with four kills. 
SET 2 I 25-21 A kill from Abby Peduzzi midway through the set gave UNCP a 13-9 advantage. GC knotted the score at 20 apiece after rattling off four consecutive points, but the Braves won five of the final six points to take a two set lead. 
    - GC out-hit UNCP .156 to .130 in the set.
    - Abby Peduzzi and Addie Decker both had a trio of kills.  
SET 3 I 26-28 Georgia College got a quick start and took a 14-6 lead following a service ace. UNC Pembroke clawed its way back into the set and would eventually knot the score at 24 apiece with a service ace from Savannah Whaley, but the Bobcats won four of the next six points to close the set. 
    - GC out-hit UNCP .191 to .106 in the set. 
    - Abby Peduzzi tallied nine kills during the set. 
SET 4 I 25-16 UNCP won five-straight points to take an 18-11 advantage after a kill from Danika Kunkle and would maintain the lead for the rest of the match. 
    - UNCP out-hit GC .366 to .194 in the set. 
    - Addie Decker tallied four kills. 
    - Abby Peduzzi and Deorri Gaines both finished the set with three kills.
