Soccer Takes Down Francis Marion In Rivalry Win

PEMBROKE – UNC Pembroke tallied just two shots on goal, but an Emma Davis goal and a career night from Addison Ellsworth helped lead the Braves to a 1-0 win over Francis Marion on Wednesday night at LREMC Stadium.

The Black & Gold defense withstood 19 Francis Marion shots as Ellsworth tallied a career-high 10 saves to pick up her 12th career clean sheet.

The Braves (3-1-2, 2-0-1 CC) moved to 7-9-5 in the all-time series with the Patriots (3-3-0, 1-1-0 CC).
 
SCORING SUMMARY
22' Emma Davis corralled a loose ball and fired a shot from 40 yards out over the hands of the leaping Francis Marion goalkeeper and into the back of the net to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
TOP BRAVES
+ Addison Ellsworth recorded a career-high 10 saves in net for her 12th career clean sheet.
+ Emma Davis tallied her third goal in the last two matches.
NOTABLES
+ Francis Marion held the advantage in shots 19-3, and a 10-2 edge in shots on goal.
+ The Patriots also won the corner kick battle 4-0.
+ The 16-shot differential is the largest in a UNCP win since October 11, 2023 when the Braves defeated Wingate 3-2 despite a differential of 19 shots.
 
UP NEXT
The Braves will be back in action Saturday, September 19 as they host Lees-McRae. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at LREMC Stadium.
