Volleyball Holds Off Erskine In Four Sets

DUE WEST, S.C. – Erskine came out firing and took the opening set, but the UNC Pembroke volleyball team hit .452 in the third set to help key a 3-1 victory over the Flying Fleet on Saturday afternoon inside Belk Arena. 

The Braves now won the last three meetings against the Flying Fleet. However, it was the first time Erskine has won a set against UNC Pembroke since 2023.

SET 1 I 22-25 Erskine took a 20-13 advantage late in the opening set and would not relinquish the lead. UNC Pembroke tried to take control winning five points in a row, but the Flying Fleet won the first set. 
    - EC out-hit UNCP .128 to .108 in the set.
    - Addie Decker finished the set with four kills. 
SET 2 I 25-20 The Braves used a solo block from Abby Peduzzi to take a 16-12 lead, but the Flying Fleet would cut their deficit back to 17-16 moments later. UNCP would go on the win eight of the final 12 points of the set. 
    - UNCP out-hit EC .063 to -.037 in the set. 
    - Abby Peduzzi tallied four kills during the set. 
    - Peduzzi, Addie Decker, Alexandria Mills and Deorri Gaines all logged solo blocks. 
SET 3 I 25-16 UNCP won three points in a row to extend its lead out to 17-9. The Braves would go on to win eight of the final 15 points to take a two set lead. 
    - UNCP out-hit EC .452 to .171 in the set. 
    - Abby Peduzzi had four kills in the set, while Caterina Coronelli had three.
    - Tyler Patterson, Savannah Whaley and Grace Brewington each registered a service ace. 
SET 4 I 25-18 UNC Pembroke strung a series of points together to establish a 19-11 lead in the fourth set. Erskine cut its deficit back to 20-17, but the Braves won five of the final seven points in the match. 
    - UNCP out-hit EC .297 to .000 in the set.
    -  Addie Decker logged a team-best seven kills.
