A two-sport athlete, Williams-Johnson earned all-state honors for the softball team and was awarded the Hustle and Coaches Award for women's basketball. Williams-Johnson served as the Assistant Director of Women's Programs for USA Basketball from 1993-97 and earned an Olympic Gold Medal ring with the staff in 1996. She joined the coaching staff at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999 and spent 19 seasons with the Tar Heels. She was an integral part of 15 NCAA Tournament appearances, four ACC Tournament titles and two Final Four appearances in 2006 and 2007.
