WOMEN'S NOTES
  • The Lady Braves (4-1) pushed their win streak out to two games with a 76-67 victory at The Apprentice School in their last outing on December 3. The victory gave UNCP its best start to the season since reeling off five-straight wins to start the 2005-06 campaign.
  • All-Peach Belt Conference standout Jonissa Monley has tallied team-bests in both points (11.2) and rebounds (7.2) per game this season, including a 14-point, 13-rebound effort in the victory over The Apprentice School. Jasmine Huntley (8.8 points/game) ranks among the Peach Belt Conference's top 10 leaders in assists per game (4.6), while Ebone Stevens leads the league in 3-point percentage (52.2).
  • UNCP ranks second among the 14 PBC institutions in 3-point field goals made per game (7.4) this season, while also ranking third in 3-point field goal percentage (35.9). The Lady Braves have canned eight or more 3-pointers on a trio of occasions in 2016-17, including a season-best nine triples against both Coker and Wingate.
  • Mount Olive (6-2) rattled off its fifth-straight victory with a 76-71 home triumph over North Greenville on Saturday in the home debut for the Trojans. UMO opened its 2016-17 campaign with seven-straight road contests, and opened up a seven-game home stand with Saturday's win.
  • The Trojans have put up a Conference Carolinas-best 76.3 points per game this season, and also lead the league with 15.8 assists an outing in 2016-17 as well. Four players boast double-digit scoring averages this season, including junior Ni'Ya Styles who contributes a team-best 17.3 points per game. UMO's veteran lineup is anchored by seniors Daria Simmons (12.5 points/game) and Kiara Jones (11.8).
  • UNCP has won 24 of the 27 previous matchups in the 30-year-old series, and boasts a 13-1 record against the Trojans in the NCAA Division II era of the program. The Trojans snapped a 13-game series skid with a 71-61 victory over UNCP that opened up the 2006-07 season, but the Braves have captured all three matchups since.

MEN'S NOTES
  • The Braves (5-2) had their four-game win streak snapped with an 83-82 setback at Barton on Saturday evening. UNCP led by as much as 11 points late in the first half, but the Bulldogs put together a game-changing 14-4 run midway through the second stanza and held off a pair of last-gasp efforts by the Black & Gold.
  • Four players show double-digit scoring averages for UNCP this season, including newcomer Nigel Grant who boasts team-bests in both points (15.9) and rebounds (7.6) per game this season. Redshirt senior Alex Bradley has put up 12.7 points per game so far this season, while also boasting a Peach Belt Conference-best 6.4 assists an outing.
  • The Braves are averaging an astounding 14.0 offensive rebounds per game this season and, with that, are also averaging 16 second-chance points an outing as well. UNCP has out-rebounded all but one (Catawba) of its seven opponents in 2016-17, including three by double-digit disparities.
  • Mount Olive (1-8) dropped its sixth-straight game with an 88-57 home loss to North Greenville on Saturday evening. The Trojans were held to just 32.8 percent field goal shooting in that contest, and the Crusaders used a pair of double-digit runs in the second half to fuel the lopsided result.
  • The Trojans have allowed opponents to shoot better than 52 percent from the field this season, and are -2.4 in the rebounding column through nine outings. Freshman Cameron Robinson is UMO's best scoring option at 12.1 points per game, but sophomore Dedric Byrd (10.9 points/game) boasts a 43.5 percent success rate from the perimeter.
  • The Trojans have a slight 17-16 lead in a series that dates all the way back to the 1985-86 campaign. The Braves have won three of the last five series matchups, but are just 1-8 all-time in Kornegay Arena. The road team won each of the two meetings last season.
