WOMEN'S NOTES
- The Lady Braves (2-3, 0-1 PBC) dropped their third-straight game last Sunday after starting the season 2-0. Nyla Allen matched a career high with 20 points on 7-of-18 shooting and hauled in eight rebounds in the setback.
- Freshman Melanie Horne and sophomore Aliyah Farmer are each averaging a team-best 10.0 points per game, while Farmer's 6.8 rebounds per tilt are also a team high. Horne isn't far behind on the glass, as the freshman ranks second on the squad with 6.3 boards per contest. Farmer leads the team with a 58.1 shooting mark, while Tee Graham and Alecia Hardy hand out a team-best 3.4 assists per game.
- Famer's field-goal percentage ranks fourth in the PBC and her 86.7-percent clip from the charity stripe ranks second, while Horne's team-best 41.7 percent mark from behind the arc slots eighth in the league. Alecia Hardy's 4.0 assists per game are tied for fifth in the conference and Horne's 3.3 offensive boards per outing rank eighth in the PBC. Graham and Hardy's assists numbers are tied for seventh in the PBC and two Braves rank among the league's top 10 in offensive rebounds per game (Farmer 4.0, second and Horne 3.0, ninth).
- UNCP leads the PBC in 3-pointers made per game (7.6), 3-pointers attempted per game (23.8) and team free-throw percentage (73.2). The Braves are slotted third in the league in rebounding margin (5.0) and rank fourth in offensive rebounds per game (15.6).
- The Braves are 7-18 all-time in PBC home openers, but sport a 2-2 record in the last four seasons, including a 76-61 win over Clayton State last year on Dec. 17.
- UNCP and Columbus State have met five 25 times in series history, with the Cougars holding a 29-6 edge overall and an 11-5 edge in games played in Pembroke. Columbus State has won five-straight meetings dating back to 2013 and the last UNCP victory in the series came March 1, 2012 in Columbus. The last Braves' home win against the Cougars came Jan. 24, 2009.
- Head coach John Haskins needs just two more victories to reach the 275-win mark for his career, which has spanned 23+ years across both men's and women's basketball at UNC Pembroke. Haskins has compiled a 273-356 (.434) record overall, including a 168-193 (.465) mark at the helm of the women's program since 2004-05.
ABOUT COLUMBUS STATE
- Columbus State (3-2, 1-0 PBC) won its PBC opener on Dec. 2, 77-64 over Lander after dropping two-straight non-conference games to Albany State and Carson-Newman. The Cougars used a 19-2 run at the beginning of the second quarter and never trailed in the second half.
- The Cougars have eclipsed the 90-point mark twice in five games, including a season-high 95 points in a 95-54 win over Fort Valley State on Nov. 17. CSU dropped a 119-91 affair to No. 19 Carson-Newman on Nov. 26.
- The Cougars lead the PBC in eight team categories, including a league-best 80.2 points per game and 50.0 rebounds per tilt. Columbus State is outrebounding opponents by a PBC-best 11.6 rebounds per game and average a conference-high 6.4 blocks per outing.
- Titiana Wayne leads all Cougars and ranks fourth in the PBC with 19.8 points per game. Wayne's 45.2-percent (14-for-31) clip from long range is fifth best in the league and the junior scored a season-high 37 points on 14-of-33 shooting against Carson-Newman.

MEN'S NOTES
- The Braves (5-2, 1-0 PBC) had their three-game win streak snapped with an 89-85 setback at Barton on Thursday evening in Wilson. Five players registered double-digit scoring nights, but the Braves were unable to offset 55 percent shooting from the free throw line in the loss.
- Freshman David Strother scored a career-best 22 points in Thursday's setback thanks, in large part, to a 6-for-9 clip from the perimeter. It was the most 3-pointers for a UNCP player since Quamain Rose collected six against USC Aiken on Feb. 4, 2015, and the most for a freshman since Alex Bradley drained six against Fayetteville State on Nov. 21, 2013.
- The Black & Gold will ride an eight-game home win streak into Sunday's contest at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court, including a perfect 4-0 mark in their home arena this season. The club has dropped just two of its last 23 games in Pembroke, and finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 13-2 record at home.
- UNCP is 10-15 all-time in Peach Belt Conference home openers, but has won two if its last three such contests and sport a 5-4 mark in PBC openers during the Ben Miller era.
- UNCP has out-rebounded 81 of its last 103 opponents, and have accomplished that task in five of its seven games this season. Over that 103-game stretch, the Braves have out-rebounded opponents by 10 or more boards on 31 occasions as well.
- The Braves are 8-30 all-time against the Cougars in a series that dates all the way back to the 1992-93 season – UNCP's first year as both a member of NCAA Division II and the Peach Belt Conference. The teams have split the last 10 matchups in the series, but the Braves drew last blood with an 89-77 victory over the Cougars in the 2017 PBC Tournament Championship game. UNCP has also won the last two matchups in Pembroke.
- In the midst of his 10th season at the helm of the Black & Gold in 2017-18, Ben Miller needs just 13 wins to match former Pembroke State legend Lacey Gane (1965-75) atop the program's all-time wins list. Miller has led the Braves to a 155-117 (.570) record in 9+ seasons as head coach.
ABOUT COLUMBUS STATE
- Columbus State (1-3, 1-0 PBC) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 35-point rout of Lander in its PBC opener on December 2, but has not seen action since that contest. Sunday's contest will mark just the second true road game for the Cougars this season as well.
- Four Cougars sport double-figure scoring averages this season, including senior JaCori Payne who has registered 19.5 points per game on 49 percent shooting through four contests. Senior forward Marcus Dixon averages 12.0 points and a team-best 9.3 rebounds and has canned nearly 61 percent of his field goal attempts.
- Columbus State has shot an impressive 45.9 percent from the field this season, but has allowed opponents to shoot at a blistering 52.7 percent success rate from the field. The Cougars force nearly 18 turnovers an outing, while coughing up the ball just 12.8 times per game themselves.
- The Cougars have captured just three of their last 10 PBC road games, and are 2-6 in PBC road openers since the start of the 2009-10 campaign.
