PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke women's basketball team makes its first appearance in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament since the 2011-12 season Saturday when it travels to Morrow, Georgia for a quarterfinal matchup with Clayton State. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at The Loch.

• The Braves (15-11) wrapped up a record regular season with their first home loss since Nov. 27 on Wednesday with a 68-52 setback to rival Francis Marion at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. UNCP had won its previous 11 home contests dating back to Nov. 30 to finish the campaign 11-2 in Pembroke, which is the most home wins since the 2004-05 season (11-2). 
• The home success has not translated to the road, as the Black & Gold will carry a six-game road losing streak into Saturday's tilt and closed the lid on the regular season with a 4-9 record away from home. UNCP's last road win was a 76-56 thumping of Montevallo on Jan. 9. 
• UNCP has made an appearance in 18 of the 25 PBC Tournaments since joining the league prior to the 1992-93 season, but Saturday will mark the first such appearance since the 2011-12 campaign. The Braves are 3-18 all-time in the conference tournament with the three wins coming in 1995, 2003 and 2012. The Black & Gold has never advanced past the semifinal round of the league tournament. 
• The Braves have faced 11 different teams (including former members Kennesaw State, USC Upstate and North Florida) in the PBC Tournament, but Saturday will mark the first ever meeting with Clayton State in the league's postseason gala. UNCP has wins over USC Aiken, North Florida and Columbus State in the tournament, with the latter being a 66-48 triumph over the Cougars in 2012. 
• Clayton State (23-5), the 2011 National Champions, won the 2013 edition of the league tournament and has advanced to at least the semifinals in seven of the last eight seasons. The Pacers closed the regular season with four-consecutive wins and wins in nine of their last 10 overall dating bak to Jan. 25. 
• Saturday will pit the league's fourth-best 3-point shooting team (UNCP, 32.1 percent) against the PBC's second-best 3-point defense (Clayton State, 27.5 percent). The Lakers' fast-paced offense gets off the second-most shots per game in the league (67.7), while the Braves limit opponents to just 25.9 percent shooting from behind the arc (1st in PBC). 
• Tierra Johnson ranks fourth in the league with 16.8 points per game, while Andrea Benford pours in 13.7 points (15th in PBC) and grabs a team-leading 7.4 rebounds (12th in PBC) per outing. Johnson also ranks third in the league in both steals per game (2.7) and field goals made per game (6.9). 
• Clayton State leads the all-time series 16-9, but the Braves won a 76-61 contest Dec. 17 in Pembroke behind a season-high 24 points from Jasmine Huntley. The Lakers have won 10 of the last 12 meetings between the sides and the last Black & Gold win in Morrow was a 69-62 triumph Jan. 14, 2006.
