PEMBROKE – Having been immersed in a road trip that has spanned much of the last two months, the UNC Pembroke wrestling team will make its much-anticipated return to Pembroke on Thursday when the Braves suit up to take on Spartanburg Methodist and Queens in a 5 p.m. tri-match at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
The Braves (3-7) will lock arms with Spartanburg Methodist (2-7) in a 5 p.m. matchup to kick off the evening, with the Pioneers slated to take on Queens (3-4) in the following contest at approximately 6:30 p.m. UNCP will close out the tri-match with an 8 p.m. dual meet against the Royals. Admission to all 2017-18 UNC Pembroke home wrestling matches is free.
Fans unable to make the trip to Pembroke can follow the matches for free via a live video stream on the UNCP Sports Network with
Matt Sabados handling the commentary. All three matchups can also be followed via a live statistics link provided by UNCP.
Thursday's event will mark the first home appearance for the Braves since they hosted the 37
th Annual Pembroke Classic on November 12. Freshman
Nick Daggett (125 pounds) returns home with a team-best 18 victories, while veteran
Tyler Makosy follows close behind with 16 wins on the season. Daggett and senior
Eric Milks have registered a team-best five victories via pin fall this season.
