Wrestling Posts 1-2 Record At Woldpack Duals

RALEIGH – The UNC Pembroke wrestling team picked up its first victory of the season with a 25-13 triumph over 18th-ranked (NAIA) Reinhardt, but fell to a pair of NCAA Division I foes in Davidson and 8th-ranked NC State on Saturday at the Wolfpack Duals in Reynolds Coliseum.

The Braves (1-3) tacked up three-straight bonus point victories in the dual with Reinhardt and won three other individual matches on the way to a 25-13 triumph over the Eagles. Kaleb Warner's second-period pin at 149 pounds gave the Black & Gold a 14-4 advantage over Davidson, but the Wildcats won five of the last six individual bouts on the way to a 31-17 win.

The Wolfpack topped the Braves, 40-0, in the nightcap of the event, capturing all 10 individual matchups, including five with bone points.

All-American Nick Daggett and Jonathan Miller both tacked up a pair of wins on the day. Daggett tallied a second-period pin of Reinhardt's Koby Milner, and disposed of Davidson's Zamir Ode via a 15-0 technical fall. Miller needed just 71 seconds to pin Reinhardt's Curtis Doctor, and then toughed out a 5-2 decision over Davidson's Caleb Ziedell.

The Braves will be back in action again on Sunday when they compete at the NC State-hosted Wolfpack Open in Carmichael Gymnasium. Wrestling action is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
