Cash Bash Recap 2022

Great Scot! Cash Bash Brings In Record $126,000

June 23, 2022

PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced Thursday morning that its ninth annual Cash Bash fundraising event raised more than $126,000 for the department's general scholarship fund.

The total of $126,144 was spearheaded by ticket sales for the event which raised nearly $50,000 alone – the highest total raised by that portion of the program in the 9-year history of the department's premier fundraising event. The Fund-A-Cause portion of the evening raked in more than $31,000 toward the total.

To date, the annual event has generated more than $825,000 in nine years for student-athlete scholarships.

"I was really moved by our donors' response to getting back to a face-to-face Cash Bash event for our student-athletes. They responded in a significant way," said athletics director Dick Christy. "Our team did a masterful job of adjusting to new technology and a new venue to put on, what I felt, was one of our strongest events in my time here. I'm very proud of everyone's efforts."

The 2022 Cash Bash, which returned to an in-person format for the first time since May 2019, donned a fresh "Braves To The Future" theme which featured the return of several former student-athletes that have gone on to build successful professional careers. The evening's program showcased those athletes in 60-second videos in which the featured guests spoke about what the foundation of their experience at UNCP has meant for their life after college.
