No. 24 Baseball Takes Two At Lander; Win Streak At Double Digits

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Lander pushed across a pair of runs to knot the game up in the bottom of the eighth, but River Ryan legged out an infield RBI single with two outs in the ninth to push the 24th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team to a twinbill sweep of the Bearcats with a 15-14 comeback win in Saturday's nightcap. The Braves battled back from an early 3-1 deficit to grab a 10-5 win in Saturday's opener.
 
The results helped the Braves (18-5, 14-3 PBC) stretch their win streak out to 10 games, while also giving the Black & Gold its sixth series win of the season as well. The Bearcats (14-10, 10-9) have now dropped five of their last seven outings.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 4 Landon Dupert (walk) and Evan Harold (double) reached to lead off the frame, and a passed ball moments later brought Dupert racing home with the 2-0 lead for the hosts. ??? Richey's two-out double padded the lead out to a trio of runs.
TOP 6 Ramsey Petty (hit by pitch) and Spencer Faulkner (single) both reached to put a pair of runners on with one out, and UNCP dug into its deficit on consecutive RBI singles from River Ryan and Gage Hammonds. River Ryan crossed the plate later in the frame via a semi-successful double steal attempt to knot the score up.
TOP 8 Christian Jayne's one-out double to the gap in right field plated River Ryan from second base with the go-ahead run, and Grant Elliott gave the Black & Gold an insurance run seconds later when his sacrifice fly to left field scored Matt Kelley from third.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 4 Tyler Prell climbed aboard via a leadoff single, moved into scoring position on an ill-timed passed ball and eventually scored on Roury Glanton's one-out double down the left field line. Landon Dupert's 2-out homer two at-bats later pushed Lander's lead out to four runs, 7-3.
TOP 6 UNCP sent its entire batting order to the plate in a 5-run inning that eventually gave the Braves an 11-7 lead. The Black & Gold scored a pair of runs on as many wild pitches, but the big blows were dealt by Trevor Clemons (2-run homer) and Garrett Littleton (RBI double).
BOT 7 Lander sent eight batters to the plate in a 5-run frame that helped it knot the score up at 12 apiece. The Bearcats loaded the bases with its first four at-bats, and got a freebie when Bo Richey absorbed a bean ball that forced in a run. Justin Wager's pinch-hit grand slam in the next at-bat completed the big inning for the hosts.
TOP 9 Wellington Guzman hit a leadoff single up the middle to start a rally for the Braves, moved to second via a sacrifice bunt from Garrett Littleton and then moved 90 feet away on a wild pitch. Bryce Jackson tacked up the second out of the inning in the next at-bat, but River Ryan legged out an infield single on a slow roller to the third baseman to bring the run across safely.
