WINGATE – The UNC Pembroke baseball team tacked up double-digit hits for the fifth-straight game, including a trio of home runs, but top-ranked Wingate used a pair of scores in the bottom of the fifth inning to go out in front for good on the way to an 18-8 win over the Braves on Tuesday evening.
The result snapped a six-game win streak for UNCP (19-7) who has now registered 10 or more hits on 15 occasions this season, including six times on the road. It was just the third win for Wingate (24-3) in the last 11 matchups with the Braves dating back to the 2016 season.
